Rider of the Month

Cedarhill Farm has selected Hannah Goodman as our January rider from our training program to be our "Rider of the Month." We believe that each one of our students brings passion and commitment to their position. Each month, we will select one rider who showed up early, rode harder, trained with the most intensity, and brought their attitude of excellence. Selection will be based on the following criteria: Sportsmanship Respect for fellow riders, trainers and facility staff Conduct and Behavior Positive Attitude Drive, Passion, Intensity and willingness to learn Congratulations Hannah - your positive attitude and dedication is admirable!
Schooling Horse Show - Sunday, February 5th
Sign up for our first show of the season, the Cedarhill Schooling show on Sunday, February 5th. Starting at 9am with RIng II we will have the Walk Trot division thru the Cross Rail division finish before starting Ring I with the Open 2’ division. Should be a great start to a prosperous year- sign up at the barn on the bulletin board.

Happy New Year! Lesson Policy Change

With the New Year we have new changes. New for 2012 we will be changing our make up policy for lessons from no make ups allowed to one lesson make up for every three sessions. We still would like for you to let us know if you aren’t able to make it to your lesson- we will post it on our lesson available schedule online. Regardless if it sells or not we will credit you one lesson per three sessions to use during that time.

New Teams

Congratulations to the Peppler family on the addition to their family- Martha Jacob’s medium pony, Elvis. Martha is moving up from the medium pony division and is in search of a children’s horse. It was important to the Jacob’s family that Elvis find the right home first though. The Peppler’s are just that home! Loved by Kinsey, Kylie and Jennifer, Elvis has found job security for a super long time, as a beginner rider pony for Kylie and a medium pony for Kinsey. Congratulations also go out to Brooke Thompson who will be half leasing Skip this year to move up on. Brooke has learned a lot on Teddy who she has been leasing for most of last year and is ready for the new challenge. We have been looking for some time now for Lindsey Rigney, traveling up to Raleigh and then down to Florida, looking at well over 30 horses while the horse she is now vetting and is most excited about has been in our barn the whole time! We thought Splotch to be too green for Lindsey but after watching her ride many of the ones in Florida we now are most appreciative of what a pair Splotch and Lindsey can be with the help of Caroline and myself. It will be a challenging road ahead but a very fun and worthwhile one. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the vetting goes well!

Communication

Let us know how we can do a better job- drop us a line, via email, phone, visit, talk... so many ways that you can help us out by letting us know what you would like to see different, stay the same, or improve at our farm. It is only through communicating these ideas that we can continue to be the best barn for you and your family. Let us know of your goals for the upcoming year and we can help you obtain them!

Extra Curricular

We had a great time during the holiday break traveling to the Ark where we jumped cross country and then went trail riding at Cane Creek Park. We hope to add these extra trips in whenever there is an opening in the schedule since it is great to get both our horses and our riders off the farm and out of the ring. In January we do not have any shows planned. We are looking into utilizing some of these weekends (weather permitting) to exploring other facilities. We also will be emailing out extra Saturday lesson availability that our riders could take advantage of- especially if you haven’t used your Christmas present from Cedarhill yet (all of our session riders should have received a free lesson from us) if you haven’t received your gift certificate from us- ask when you are next at the barn. There is still a bunch of our riders who took off before getting their gift from us. Merry Christmas!

Camp Registration

Sign up early for 2012 Summer Camp and save $50! We have our 2012 dates on our website camp page. The registration form has not been updated with the correct year, otherwise there are no changes. Use that one until I get the year changed. These camps make great birthday gifts as well!

Renew Your Memberships

Don’t forget to renew your memberships for the upcoming year- current memberships are required for earning points for both the rider and the horse for most of the shows that we will be attending. Most horses, once a member of a particular organization, are members for life for that organization. PHJA, NCHJA, and USEF are the most common organizations that we will be attending that most of our riders are inclined to get points for. Ask us for additional information if you have any questions!

Show Clothes

Jennifer can help any of our riders needing assistance with their attire for the upcoming show year. The PHJA shows and beyond need different show clothes than what our Academy schooling shows require. We have certain ideals that we hope our riders will abide by for our show team to look their most professional best.

PHJA Banquet

Don’t forget to get in your reservations for the 2011 Year End PHJA banquet held once more at the Double Tree Hotel at South Park at 6pm on Saturday, February 4th. The forms will be online on the PHJA website shortly. We expect lots of fun again this year with many of our riders winning many great prizes.
