Jr Hunter, Child Hunter & Pony Hunter Finals 2017

Congrats to all of our riders who attended their finals these past two months. It is an honor to qualify and we are proud of our riders!

Jordan started us off with the Children’s Hunter Finals hosted by the Classic Company at the International Horse Park at Georgia. They earned some big, fancy, fun ribbons with a format a bit different from the other finals- competing in a team format. Jordan and Patrick did well, had fun, and learned lots! Special thanks to the Geitners for helping coach Jordan as I wasn’t able to attend.  They are looking forward to competing at the WCHR Finals as well as Zone Finals later this fall as well.

Lindsey took Calypso up to Saugerties, NY where she attended Junior Hunter finals 2017. They had lots of fun and enjoyed both the weather and the competition. Calypso and Lindsey were great, not bothered by the impressive solid course held in the main hunter ring that did get the best of a fair number of others. An unfortunate distance to in her first round, and a rail in the second took them out of the ribbons but not from having a very fun time. Emil Spadone helped with the coaching since I was at Blowing Rock at the time.

Davenport and Justin were off to a great start- eleventh overall in the large pony division after the Model and under saddle. Justin thought there was an option to swerve left in front of the third jump on the hunter course which Davenport unfortunately didn’t correct which dashed their hopes of continuing. They got an opportunity to redeem themselves in the Pony Medal which they did; a great job getting the course done in the big All Tech Arena.

Ollie and Kat had a tough show at Blowing Rock, leading up to the Pony finals and planned to take it one day at a time. They really impressed us by pulling it together and continually improved to the point that they not only attempted, but succeeded in marching around the Pony Hunter course. It was a big win for them both.

Cate put in a great trip over fences with Chloe and held a spot on the leader board for more than three quarters of the class until ponies that out jumped Chloe, piloted by good jockeys bested their efforts. Cate can feel good that she did her part to giving Chloe a great ride. The next time she will be doing a Final will be on her newly acquired horse; Rebel who won’t be outclassed.
